Surf Up Ty!

More fashionables from Team Heit. This time surf shorts & tee for Tyler.

Too handsome not to share and Tyler thought these were "um, super cool surf boarder shorts." Love it. Love him. Love Team Heit family!

This just made me laugh b/c the Jersey farm boy will definitely need to hit San Diego beaches for surf lessons and a real tan...not to mention to spend quality time with our extended sweet Heit family. Awe, we miss you guys!

Sass-a-Frass

Cassie Ann Bohnert is such a sassy lil' girl. Everyone says so & her nick name is sassy pants or sass-a-frass! Love it! Love her!

She has changed so much. All grown up & doesn't look like any baby or toddler any more. She is 2 and proud of it. She is all independent, well, almost. When it comes to droppin' her off at day-care or the farm or wherever, she clings to my legs and cries "mommy!". I love that she wants to be close, and I'm trying to snuggle w/ her a bit, because before long she'll have nothin' to do with me and ask "um, can you just act like I'm not related to you!" Dejavoo? I think my poor mother warned me that some day, I'd have a daughter just like me! Ha!
xoxo!

PS...cutie-patotie dress curiosity of a gift from Team Heit, led by Heit's fashionable mama sweet elizabeth! Personalized sassy pants outfit will be posted next summer!!!

County Fair

Tyler showed his first calf this year at the Rock Island County Fair! To be honest, I never really expected him to follow through on this all. I asked him if he was interested, he said yes. We picked out a calf, her name was Model, which Tyler thought that was a "really great name for a calf" and loved that she was a black Jersey. We got her out and walked her; Cassie helped too. But again, no pressure.
Fair time came and he was all excited about loading her up on the trailer to get her to the fair. He helped his dad with that.
Show day came, and he wanted to wear Wranglers, "just like dad. He is so cool." Once we got to the fair, I was off doing other things and Scott and Brian helped Tyler get his calf out, put the show halter on and Brian gave him a few pointers....and the cameras were flashin'. I came over after this process had already started, but local photo journalists and newspapers were eatin' this up. Cute lil' farm boy showing his calf. What is not to like 'bout this? Tyler stood there and smiled and said his name and told 'em how old he was and "when I'm five I get to milk cows" and told them what his calf's name was.
Show time! Tyler walked Model over there and led her throughout. He was getting a lil' wore out, but he did a great job. He stood fourth place and when he got a pink ribbon, he thought that was the BEST THING EVER. Mind you, only five animals were in the class.

The nice thing about this all is that kids put it all in perspective. Tyler could of stood dead last, but he loved the opportunity of showing his calf and his hard work was paying off by being able to do all the work solo. He felt, um, grown-up, yes at four. AND, I have to admit, for me and Scott, it was a lil' tearful. How could it not be? I was just so proud of Tyler and his hard work.

The local paper did a story. The link follows.

Winter Wheat

Weekend fun harvesting winter wheat in the new(er) combine! These Jersey kids loved ridin' along with their daddy, workin' to harvest the wheat. Its an overWHELMING experience watching your kids want to spend time working side by side with their father at the farm. This family time is 'bout as good as it gets!!!

Cassie waves to the 'booooooys' in the combine. We stop 'em for a requested ice-cream break!

Move over GREEN...time for some PINK

My latest good buy! This was Cassie's present from Grandma Michelle.
Move over John Deere, Barbie is in charge! HA!

A way to commute to day-care and save on that high gas bill.

Needless to say, the Jersey kids love it.

More to come, I'm sure!

Happy Birthday Cassie!

We FINALLY celebrated Cassie's second birthday. Poor girl, with every one's crazy schedule, it wasn't until now that we all could sit down and celebrate in good fashion. AND...we didn't even do that today. With mother nature takin' over, the weather finally has shaped up here in the Mississippi Valley, so the tractors, plows and planters are movin' full speed ahead. We had planned the party to be at our home, but made a last minute decision to change location to Bohnert Farm, so the men could stop n' time for a bite to eat, including cake and give big birthday smooches to the birthday girl! AND...the good thing 'bout being two is that you really don't know the difference, as long as you get cake and a few presents. Love that life is so simple (as it should be) at a young age.

Cassie sported BIG smiles, even though she was tuckered out from the weekends festivities of go-go-go! Tyler was EXCITED to say the least that the cake was chocolate ("its my favorite kind," he reports!), and everyone ate it up (delish as it was!) regardless that my American flag cake was melting on the transport to the farm.
Highlights for this birthday beauty include strawberries (they are her fave snack), babies and a baby stroller. What more does a two year old girl need? Oh she got more gifts & loved 'em all!!!

Cassie Ann Bohnert, we love you so very much. You easily make me laugh. I love your sweetness, your silly looks and your "ham-of-a-personality". Everyone does. I'm so thankful that you are in my life and apart of our family. I couldn't image it any other way!

Hip-hip-hurray, Cassie Ann is two! Happy birthday sissy!
xoxo!

Cassie starts the day off with a nice, red strawberry!!
Once the party got moved to the farm, Cassie sits with her dad & brother in her very own Dora lawn chair!

America's birthday II

What a wonderful July 4th for this Bohnert clan. The weather couldn't of been more perfect, as temps neared 80, blue skies and all sun. We loved it and loved our day together as a family. We headed downtown East Moline for the annual parade, which the kids fully enjoyed. They loved gathering candy (it was all about how much they could get, they ate a couple pieces and have forgot about it since!) and waving to the passing floats. We came back home to take much needed naps by all (including mom & dad, no fits by us!), had a bite to eat and then headed across the river in Iowa to watch the fireworks displays & the Bohnert men created some of their own with sparklers, lil' smoker stick bombs & other junk that fully entertained this Jersey family.
The Jersey kids enjoy watchin' the parade!
Cassie enjoys a sucker!
Tyler shows off his prized possessions from the parade!
Later on that evening...Scott lights sparklers for the kids!

The Jersey kids love the lil' smokers!

Pretty Girl II

As I've blogged 'bout before, Cassie is sure a sweetheart of a girl and as pretty as they come. Everyone adores her & tells her that she 'sure is pretty!' She just says "yea!" Love it. Love her. And, I love putting her in dresses, but as she has reached the ripe ol' age of 2, its a lil' harder b/c she is on the moooooooooooooove and its easier for her to climb, jump and run in shorts, pants, capris or even a skirt, not a dress. But...I found a great dress for her birthday party (so more pics to come), but hear is a sneak peak. Too cute not to brag & show off Miss. Cassandra Ann Bohnert. Love her. Love her. Love her!

Cassie shows of her new dress & loves to feed her babies!

Four wheelin', Jersey style

Finally...Cassie decides to join the boys on the four-wheeler. She has passed up many opportunities before on this ride, as well as other farm equipment. She loved it & said "broom, broom, broom, go fast!!!!!!!!!!!" Just what this Jersey mama doesn't wanna hear!

Goofin' around

A new (sorta) slide for Cassie's b-day from Good-will. Couldn't pass up this buy for a whoppin' $2.50! The Jersey kids love it!

O-hoy mate, Cassie is a pirate w/ this bandanna. The cutest lil' pirate mate I've ever layed eyes on!
