Family Time

No pics to go with this blog, but maybe that is just what family time is 'bout. Droppin' it all...camera, phones and other gadgets and spending quality time together as a family. AND...that is just what we did last weekend. On Saturday night we ventured downtown Silvis for the lighted parade...and yes, Mr. Tyler Bohnert was prepared with his plastic bag to gather as much candy as possible. Cute that he begged to have one lolly pop and then forgot the rest and this Jersey mama pitched it! He was so serious into his work, gathering candy...it was cute to watch. Cassie had fun too, but her quantity was considerably less than her big brothers, but her pride in what she gathered, was just as big as Tyler.
The next day we all went to the local zoo and had the best time. Tyler was our tour guide, after all he had visited the zoo the most recent (with his pre-K class last May), so he showed us around. The giggles were heard forever and highlights include: feeding giraffes carrots, the goose biting Cassie toe and the rest of the day she kept saying "don't bite my toe goose", watching the elephants throw dirt on their backs and riding the cho-cho train! It was picture perfect (so wish I had towed the camera along) weather and the kids, both big & small had the best Sunday together as a family!
I wish we had more days like this!

State Fair Galore

We just got back from the Illinois State Fair in Springfield and this year, the kids & I came in tow with Scott and the cows. We opted not to spend the night with the cows in the barns and parked ourselves in a nearby hotel, which worked out wonderFULLY.

These Jersey kids fully enjoyed themselves at the 2008 Illinois State Fair. Temperatures were perfect, low 80's/high 70's, which is considered a true blessing to this Jersey mama, especially since most IL State Fair the temps are in the mid 90's+.

My kids don't pack lightly, towing along trikes, wagons and toys galore, which came in really handy with all the other Illinois Jersey children. We should call it camp Jersey or something in that regards as the Jersey kids easily entertained themselves. It was a site to be seen, the cows didn't seem to mind these kids riding their bikes up and down the aisles, breaking only for snacks or a quick dash to the bathroom. They hitched up their Radio Flyer wagons to their trikes and towed kids, including Cassie. The giggles were heard for miles (and occasionally screams when they couldn't seem to share). Awe, these will be the memories I remember for a long time to come.

These Jersey kids are tuckered OUT! Went to bed at 830PM last night and woke up at 1030AM. And, now back down for naps again. Tyler can't wait for next year. He has a new BFF, and he is a Jersey cowboy through and through and easily found a special place in Tyler's heart.

Pickin' Corn

This rookie Jersey mama has never picked corn. Crazy, I know, but remember I'm not from Illinois! So, Scott decided to break me and the kids too...with some down home fun, pickin' corn from a family friend (who has more corn than he knows what to do with!). So wish I had my camera with...the kids were all giggles and seriously hard at work. Tyler happily reported his findings, "Dad, got another big one, it has black hair on it." For those of you that don't know...that means its good to pick!

Tonight Cassie & I tended to the harvest in the kitchen. A good excuse to crank the tunes, put the aprons on and get out the electric knife! Where was the youngest Bohnert man during the labor, "sorry mom but cartoons are callin' my name!"

xoxo!
A few pics follow!

Jersey Swim Team!

FINALLY, we pulled out the small, um, yes, tiny inflatable pool for the Jersey kids to splash 'round in. Temps continued in the 90's for the first stretch this summer. You don't hear us complaining, but it was a fun way to cool off. Tons of giggles, which really perked me up! I absolutely LOVE, yes LOVE children's laughter. Its deep down, from the toes, genuine and heart-felt. It made our afternoon go by quickly and wore the Jersey swim team out! Or maybe I should refer to the pair as the Jersey dive team as they dove, yes, belly-flopped, hopped, ran, sprinted into the pool, that maybe had six inches of water in the pool. We had to continue fillin' it up because all the water would splash out! The Jersey backyard watering hole was the perfect place to park these cuties this August afternoon.
