The County Fair

Unfortunately, Miss. Martini (Ty's calf) didn't make it to the county fair. Dad forgot to get her health papers so she could go and I guess the good part of being three years old, is that you don't really know the difference, nor care, as long as you get to go to the fair yourself.

So, Tyler didn't wear his show whites this year; maybe next. He did sport a smile, a comb brush for the cow's tail and lots of "I can" attitude to help out. What more could you ask for!?

Another highlight...Bohnerts took home Supreme Champion cow of the show, plus many more blue and purple ribbons.

Farm Chick

Farm Help

I cant think of any better way than to raise my kids on the farm. AND...even as a kid, I told myself that I'd NEVER marry a dairy farmer and work on a dairy farm...well, obviously, now Im eating crow!!

Just seeing the stars in Tyler's eyes when we drive down the lane to the farm or the excitement in his voice, when I tell him we are going to the farm. "I go drive tractors, mix feed, feed calves, play with pup-dog..." and the list goes on and on. He is all boy, farm boy too!!! AND...he loves the farm, helping out and being one of the farm help. I don't think that any of the other Bohnert men or hired help mind having him around. They all treat him as if he punches a time clock and brings a brown bag lunch to the farm. He is an extra set of hands...and although now, he might make the chore process take longer...in a few years, I think he'll be leading the pack w/ ambition and know-how. Definitely music to his daddy's ears....makes me smile too.

One lick for you...and one lick for me

Makes me remember when I used to share my popsicle with the family dog...so, I'm somewhat okay with the kids sharing a sucker.

Summertime

SUPER hot & humid this past weekend, so we went to the local watering hole. A small waterpark that the kids, esp. Ty LOVED!!! No hidin' that we are farmers...workin' on improving the farmer's tan. :)

Miss. Cassie Ann...one year later...

Cassie went in yesterday for her one-year check-up! She weighed in at 24 pounds and 30 inches long....and still as cute as they come. She started day-care this week...they all just love her there...she seems to like it too...a few art projects already...and the kiddies love her too...and want to be on top of her...hint why she is sporting the bruises.

America's birthday

Cass & Daddy before the parade begins...

Go figure...when America celebrates its birthday, it HOT in the upper Midwest. We enjoyed the East Moline parade...Tyler moreso than anyone else. The novelty never wore off...getting candy...and putting it in his bag. He never asked to eat any! By days end...both kids were tuckered out. So was there mama!

Ty & K at the parade
Wouldn't really be a parade w/o a John Deere Combine, would it? At least in E. Moline it wouldn't.Ty...all tuckered out..towards the end, he just sat down on the pavement, waiting for more candy...
